Jurassic Park: Survival is an immersive first-person single-player action-adventure game set just a day after the events of the original 1993 film.
Developed by Saber Interactive, known for World War Z, Jurassic Park: Survival was first unveiled at The Game Awards 2023. Although we’ve only seen a behind-the-scenes video so far, it’s already looking like a thrilling new title that taps into ’90s nostalgia as we navigate the park and face off against prehistoric predators on Isla Nublar.
Stealth fans will be pleased to know that the game will incorporate stealth mechanics as you attempt to evade the iconic dinosaurs that roam the island. While we’re eagerly awaiting more updates, you can already wishlist the game to stay in the loop.
Saber Interactive has not yet announced a release date for Jurassic Park: Survival.
The announcement trailer released in December 2023 was mostly cinematic and didn’t provide a launch window. However, it did showcase some pre-alpha footage that hints at the quality players can expect. Since then, a behind-the-scenes video has been shared, but we’re still waiting for a concrete release date.
What we do know is that once it launches, Jurassic Park: Survival will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. This is fantastic news, as it appears there are no exclusive deals in the works, ensuring that all dino enthusiasts can dive into the game right away.
As for a potential Switch 2 release, it’s still uncertain. While it might eventually join the list of upcoming Switch 2 games, we currently have no information regarding its availability on Nintendo’s new console.
What we do know for certain is that the game is now available to wishlist on your preferred platform, as mentioned in a previous update from the game’s official Twitter.
The first trailer for Jurassic Park: Survival premiered at The Game Awards 2023, setting the stage for the game: a scientist trapped on Isla Nublar shortly after the original Jurassic Park film’s events.
Set just after the original 1993 film, Jurassic Park: Survival picks up the day following Isla Nublar’s evacuation. Not everyone made it off the island, and that’s where you come in. You’ll step into the shoes of Dr. Maya Joshi, an Indian scientist fighting for survival.
Maya Joshi is a new addition to the Jurassic Park universe, but you’ll encounter many familiar locations from both the Jurassic Park trilogy and the Jurassic World films. Saber promises a “fully realized Isla Nublar filled with reactive wildlife, dinosaurs, and other unexpected threats” as you navigate the dangers posed by prehistoric predators.
The game takes place on Isla Nublar, the remote island where John Hammond inadvertently unleashed a prehistoric nightmare on tourists and scientists. Saber assures that this environment will be “fully realized,” allowing players to explore iconic spots like the towering park gates and the Visitor Center.
While we’ve only seen a glimpse so far, the studio is committed to populating Isla Nublar with living dinosaurs, each exhibiting unique behaviors and interacting with a variety of environments. You’ll need to scavenge for resources to survive in this wild setting.
Concept art suggests that we might also see locations from Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, including the radio tower bunker from that film. In Fallen Kingdom, the tower was in disrepair, so it will be exciting to see it functional and in its prime. This indicates that Jurassic Park: Survival will weave together elements from the entire franchise, and we’re eager to see how it connects the new films with the original trilogy upon release.
Screenshots have also revealed the iconic rotating theater from the first Jurassic Park movie, featuring Mr. DNA presenting on modern dinosaur creation. Additionally, a recent behind-the-scenes video confirmed that players will visit locations mentioned in the first film, like a hotel under construction, which were never shown on screen.
This game is shaping up to be a dream come true for fans, and we can’t wait for more location reveals in the future.
Saber is crafting a single-player adventure that emphasizes stealth and action, reminiscent of the experience The Creative Assembly aimed for with Alien: Isolation. Given the destructive nature of creatures like the Dilophosaurus, Velociraptor, and Tyrannosaurus Rex—featured in the first trailer—fighting head-on won’t be a viable option.
Instead, Saber promises that players will need to rely on “ingenuity through distraction and stealth to navigate intense and unforgettable encounters” as they strive to outlast some of the deadliest creatures to ever roam the earth. Survival will be challenging, so be prepared to seek clever solutions to increasingly dangerous situations.
In August 2025, Saber Interactive, in collaboration with Universal Products and Experiences, released a new behind-the-scenes video showcasing gameplay. In the clip, we see Dr. Maya being pursued by a dinosaur and later facing a T. rex that threatens her hiding spot. It appears that players can “lose” and be devoured if they aren’t careful, adding to the thrill.
Maya’s personal story was also highlighted in the video, with the team emphasizing their efforts to make her as vibrant and distinctive as the iconic characters from the original film. We’re excited to see more of Jurassic Park: Survival in action, and what we’ve seen so far is definitely promising.
