K-Pop Demon Hunters Achieve Historic Milestone at the Grammys
KPop Demon Hunters, the animated feature from Sony Animation and Netflix, has made waves at the 2026 Grammy Awards by winning the prestigious award for Best Song Written for Visual Media with their hit track “Golden.” This marks a historic moment as it’s the first Grammy win for the K-pop industry.
The song “Golden,” featuring the vocal talents of Huntr/x, Ejae (Rumi), Rei Ami (Zoey), and Audrey Nuna (Mira), saw its songwriters, including Ejae, Park Hong Jun, Jeong Hoon Seo, Joong Gyu Kwak, Yu Han Lee, Hee Dong Nam, and Mark Sonnenblick, take home the award. While “Golden” was also in the running for Song of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, it ultimately lost to Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell’s “Wildflower” and Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande’s “Defying Gravity,” respectively.
Ejae expressed the significance of the win in the press room, stating, “Growing up, people didn’t know where Korea was. Singing the Korean lyrics word by word, it means so much. I think this award is about that representation. Today’s about celebrating culture.”
Since its debut in June of last year, KPop Demon Hunters has been on a record-breaking streak, earning accolades and recognition. Huntr/x made history as the first all-women collective to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 since Destiny’s Child’s “Bootylicious” in August 2001. The track “Golden” has also graced the stages of late-night shows hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon. Beyond its musical achievements, KPop Demon Hunters has garnered two Oscar nominations and has become the most-watched original film on Netflix.
With a Grammy now in its collection, KPop Demon Hunters continues to assert its influence on global culture, showing no signs of slowing down.
