Kagurabachi, the new anime from Shonen Jump, unveils its first character trailer.

From meme to the next big action series in Shonen Jump, Takeru Hokazono’s manga *Kagurabachi* has already taken fans on a thrilling journey, and its anime adaptation is just around the corner. With its premiere set for April 2027, the production team has unveiled the first character visual and trailer featuring the main character, Chihiro Rokuhira.

For those who haven’t caught up, *Kagurabachi* is a gripping revenge tale. After a group of elite sorcerers murders Chihiro’s father and steals six enchanted swords he crafted, the young hero embarks on a quest to reclaim these powerful blades. Initially met with a wave of memes upon its debut, the manga has since shifted perceptions and gained significant traction. It launched in 2023 in Weekly Shonen Jump and has already been compiled into 11 volumes, boasting 4 million copies in circulation.

The anime adaptation is being handled by Cypic, a studio that has made a name for itself since its founding in 2016 with a series of notable adaptations, including the intense queer horror series *The Summer Hikaru Died* and the sports drama *Umamusume: Cinderella Gray*. They’ve also produced original works like *Apocalypse Hotel* and *Brave Bang Bravern*. Their recent film, *Umamusume: Pretty Derby — Beginning of a New Era*, showcases stunning animation that might just make viewers overlook its unique premise of horse girls.

On the production side, *Kagurabachi* will be directed by Tetsuya Takeuchi, a seasoned professional known for his key animation work on *Jujutsu Kaisen*, as well as directing episodes of *Heavenly Delusion* and the underrated comedy *From Bureaucrat to Villainess: Dad’s Been Reincarnated!*. Character designs are in the hands of Keigo Sasaki, who worked on *Umamusume: Cinderella Gray*, and the role of Rokuhira will be voiced by Taihi Kimura.

While the official release is still a few months away, fans will get an early look at the first 20 minutes during the *Kagurabachi World Tour*. The series will be previewed at events like Anime Expo in Los Angeles, Japan Expo Paris, AnimagiC in Germany, and Anime NYC.
