Kevin Feige is shifting his focus back to core Marvel projects, concentrating on Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars, reminiscent of his earlier work on Iron Man and Thor.

The era of Kevin Feige juggling multiple Marvel projects seems to be on pause for now. Reports indicate that the MCU mastermind has been laser-focused on Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars over the past year.

“Feige has been stretched thin with the TV shows and various other projects, including potential Star Wars ventures,” said a source during a recent podcast. “But for the last year, his attention has been solely on these two films.”

He appointed Jake Schreier as the director for the upcoming X-Men film last year, while allowing Amy Pascal to take the reins on Spider-Man-related projects, such as the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day. “He’s been in London a lot. When he concentrates on just one thing, like he did with Iron Man or Thor, the results are usually solid. It’s when he’s juggling multiple projects that things can get tricky.”

Despite this narrowed focus, there are still several MCU projects in the pipeline, including Wonder Man and Daredevil: Born Again season 2. However, it appears Feige is adopting a more hands-off approach than in the past.

The stakes are high for Doomsday, especially after Marvel Studios’ 2025 releases like Thunderbolts and The Fantastic Four: First Steps fell short of the box office success and excitement generated by 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. The Fantastic Four also struggled to maintain its top streaming position on Disney Plus, losing out to the comedy sequel Freakier Friday within just a week.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027. In the meantime, fans can catch up on the rest of Marvel Phase 6 with a look at the upcoming movies and shows.
