Kingdom Hearts IV Set for 2027 Launch, Plus Exciting Updates!

Disney has revealed that a new series set in the Kingdom Hearts universe is on its way to Disney+ and Disney Channel, announced during tonight’s D23 event highlighting upcoming projects.

Details about the series are limited, but it won’t center on Sora, Donald, and Goofy. Instead, it will explore a fresh narrative within the Kingdom Hearts world. With series director Tetsuya Nomura involved, fans can anticipate that the show will likely be canon and could have significant implications for the franchise’s future.

In addition to the series news, D23 also brought exciting updates for the gaming side of Kingdom Hearts. Square Enix and Disney confirmed that Kingdom Hearts IV is set to launch in late 2027. A new trailer showcases one of the Disney worlds inspired by Pixar’s 2017 film Coco, which celebrates the Day of the Dead. The trailer also gives us a glimpse of Mickey, Donald, and Goofy as they search for Sora, who went missing after the events of Kingdom Hearts III. It appears that Sora may be separated from his friends during some of the Disney worlds, as neither Donald nor Goofy is seen in the Coco world.

Fans should stay tuned for more Kingdom Hearts news, as a dedicated panel focused on the series is scheduled for tomorrow at 4:30 PM Pacific Time / 7:30 PM Eastern Time. This panel will be livestreamed on the official Kingdom Hearts YouTube channel.
