Kojima Unveils Main Star for Upcoming Xbox Exclusive
Just a week ago, Hideo Kojima stunned fans with the news that his upcoming title, Physint, had been dropped by PlayStation and picked up by Xbox. Now, the mastermind behind Metal Gear and Death Stranding has provided an exciting update on this action-espionage project. Kojima confirmed that the game is making “steady progress” and announced that Bill Skarsgård, known for his roles in It and Nosferatu, will play a significant part in the game.
Kojima shared this information in a YouTube video co-posted by Xbox and Kojima Productions. He described Physint as “the culmination of more than 40 years of my career: a project that will redefine ‘action-espionage,’ unbound by any existing genres in digital entertainment.” This is a bold claim, especially considering Kojima’s legacy with the Metal Gear series, which he created before leaving Konami under less-than-ideal circumstances in 2015 to establish his own studio.
In the video, it was revealed that Skarsgård will take on the lead role in Physint. Kojima mentioned that they are “long-time fans of each other’s work, and we’ve decided to embark on this new adventure together.” Footage showcased Skarsgård in stylish office attire, featuring black and grey outfits with various outerwear options. He will be joining a cast that already includes Charlee Fraser, Minami Hamabe, and Don Lee, with Kojima hinting at more casting announcements to come.
Additionally, Kojima Productions and Xbox are collaborating on a horror game titled OD, which received an update alongside Physint. The full title is OD: Knock, and Kojima noted that development is “progressing smoothly.” Performance capture and ADR recording resumed this year after being paused due to the recent SAG-AFTRA strike.
The cast of OD features Sophia Lillis, Hunter Schafer, and Udo Kier in a posthumous role, with horror director Jordan Peele co-writing the game alongside Kojima. As of now, there is no release date for this title.
Kojima Productions’ Physint has officially found a new home at Xbox after its departure from PlayStation.
