Konami Plans Annual Releases for Silent Hill Franchise Following Successful Remakes

Konami has announced an exciting plan to release approximately one new Silent Hill game each year, following the successful revival of the iconic horror franchise with this year’s Silent Hill f and last year’s impressive Silent Hill 2 remake.

Silent Hill series producer Motoi Okamoto shared insights into these ambitions in a year-end feature, discussing developers’ aspirations for 2026. He noted, “After launching Silent Hill 2 in October 2024 and delivering Silent Hill f in September 2025, we feel the series is back on track.”

He added, “With both announced and unannounced titles, we’re aiming for a release pace of about one title per year. While I’m uncertain how much of this we can achieve, I’m committed to my role as producer of the Silent Hill series. Our goal is to maintain excitement around the franchise at all times. We’re diligently working on new updates, so I appreciate your patience.”

The next installment on the horizon is Silent Hill Townfall, a mysterious project from indie studio No Code, known for the atmospheric thriller Observation. Additionally, Bloober Team is currently remaking the original Silent Hill after their successful reimagining of the second game. Beyond that, the future remains uncertain—there’s speculation that Konami might allow NeoBards to continue the work started in Silent Hill f.

While turning a game franchise into an annual release can sometimes lead to uninspired content, if these yearly titles resemble The First Message—a short, free, first-person Silent Hill experience—then Konami’s strategy could prove effective. Okamoto seems intent on avoiding the release of unfinished games just for the sake of it.

Silent Hill f’s writer understands that players aren’t looking for “a happily ever after,” and the game’s chilling exploration of young womanhood has made it a standout contender for Game of the Year.
