KPop Demon Hunters Star Receives Inspiring Call from Disney’s Princess Jasmine: “You’re About to Become a Modern-Day Princess!”

Arden Cho, the star of KPop Demon Hunters, recently received a heartfelt call from none other than Princess Jasmine herself, who had some wonderful words for the new voice actor.

“A couple of months after the movie was released, Linda Larkin, the voice of Princess Jasmine, called me, and we ended up having a two-hour conversation,” Cho shared during her appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. “I put it on speaker because, for the first hour, I was just thinking, ‘Is this really happening? Am I actually talking to Jasmine?'”

Larkin kicked off her voice acting journey in 1992 as the iconic Princess Jasmine in Disney’s animated Aladdin, which made history as the first animated film to gross over half a billion dollars. She continued to lend her voice to Jasmine in the direct-to-video sequels, The Return of Jafar and Aladdin and the King of Thieves.

“She wanted to congratulate me and mentioned that, as a voice actor, she was genuinely impressed with my portrayal of Rumi. She loved the depth and layers I brought to the character. At one point, we were both in tears, and she said, ‘You’re going to be a modern-day princess!'”

KPop Demon Hunters centers around a girl group called Huntr/x, who use their vocal powers to protect the world from demonic forces. They find themselves in a showdown against the Saja boys, a rival boy band comprised of (secret) demonic entities. Cho voices Rumi, the lead singer who is the daughter of a demon father and a demon hunter mother. The hit Netflix film has become the platform’s most-watched original movie, amassing 500 million views before the end of 2025. A sequel, KPop Demon Hunters 2, is confirmed but won’t be released until 2029.

KPop Demon Hunters is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
