LaKeith Stanfield to Portray Dennis Rodman in ’48 Hours in Vegas’
LaKeith Stanfield is set to take on one of the wildest sports tales ever, portraying the legendary Chicago Bulls player Dennis Rodman. This story revolves around Rodman’s infamous 48-hour disappearance in Las Vegas during the Bulls’ pursuit of the 1998 championship.
The film, titled 48 Hours in Vegas, was originally slated to feature Jonathan Majors, but after his removal from the project in 2023 due to legal issues, Stanfield stepped in. Directing the film is Rick Famuyiwa, known for his work on The Mandalorian and Ahsoka, who will also be crafting a new script based on an earlier draft by Jordan VanDina. The project is being produced by Phil Lord and Chris Miller.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Stanfield stated, “I’m genuinely excited to help create an exhilarating, joyful work that both honors and thoughtfully examines the legacy of Rodman and fellow trailblazers. Those who moved to the beat of their own drum, undeterred by the obstacles placed before them, then and now.”
With Stanfield’s knack for portraying unique and compelling characters, this role seems like a perfect fit.
