Leaked Cinematic from Canceled Kingdom Hearts IV Prologue Sparks Fan Theories
The Kingdom Hearts series is a treasure trove of mysteries and intricate lore that only the most dedicated fans can decipher at a glance. One intriguing element that was initially intended to play a significant role in the narrative is a mobile game titled Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link. Although it was ultimately canceled in 2025, the game was set to feature characters and events tied to Kingdom Hearts IV. Despite its cancellation, a cinematic has surfaced online, allegedly intended for an early cutscene in the game. If this is accurate, it might provide clues about what to expect in Kingdom Hearts IV, though fans are still piecing together the details.
The rumored cinematic first appeared on a forum and has since spread across various social media platforms via embeds and links. It depicts a group of keyblade wielders, resembling astronauts, confronting a massive Heartless. What we do know about Missing-Link is that it was supposed to explore Scala ad Caelum, the origin of all worlds in Kingdom Hearts. After the keyblade wielders defeat the Heartless, the dark void surrounding them dissipates, revealing what seems to be Quadratum, a world inspired by real-world Japan. Fans speculate that this squad could represent soldiers from Scala ad Caelum, venturing into Quadratum, which is expected to play a significant role in Kingdom Hearts IV.
Some fans who participated in the Missing-Link beta have expressed skepticism, noting that this footage doesn’t align with their experiences during testing. “This looks absolutely nothing like Missing-Link, sorry,” one user commented. “The ML style was more steampunk. It wouldn’t surprise me if this was a keyblade mod on something else or some fan art.”
There’s also speculation that the video might be AI-generated, though this claim has been contested on various platforms. The leaker has shared additional screenshots they assert are from Missing-Link, including images of Brain, a character who featured prominently in some of the now-defunct Kingdom Hearts mobile games. While the authenticity of the video remains uncertain, discussions on forums have led to the removal and banning of these leaks.
In light of Square Enix’s policies and community guidelines, the decision has been made to prohibit any leaks related to Missing-Link, including screenshots, videos, music, and narrative content.
As of now, Square Enix has not issued an official statement, but inquiries have been made, and updates will follow if a response is received.
