Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Deluxe Edition Offers 72-Hour Early Access
The Caped Crusader is making a comeback next year with Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, set to launch on PlayStation 5, Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on May 29, 2026. This fresh Lego Batman adventure pays homage to various eras of the iconic hero, allowing players to navigate different versions of Gotham City as multiple Lego-styled Batmans. Preorders are now available, featuring a $70 standard edition and a $90 Deluxe Edition, which comes packed with new gear and vehicles to help defend Gotham’s streets. Plus, if you grab the Deluxe Edition, you can dive into the game a few days early. Other editions also offer bonus cosmetics for those who secure their copy ahead of launch.
In an update, it was clarified that the Switch 2 version of Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will be a Game Key-Card release rather than including the full game on the cartridge, and the cover art will be revised to reflect this change.
Preordering any version of Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight unlocks the batsuit from The Dark Knight Returns, a classic blue-and-grey outfit inspired by the iconic comic mini-series. Additionally, those who opt for the Deluxe Edition will enjoy up to 72 hours of early access to the full game starting May 26, 2026.
While Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight may resemble previous titles in the series, this new installment offers a distinct gameplay experience. It features free-flow combat inspired by Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham series, but it’s been fine-tuned for younger players to easily learn and master as they take on increasingly formidable groups of enemies. Batman won’t be alone in his mission to save Gotham; he’ll be joined by Detective Jim Gordon, Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, and Catwoman throughout the campaign. Each character brings unique skills and gadgets to the table—Gordon wields a foam-sprayer to incapacitate foes, Batgirl can hack security systems with her hackarang, and Nightwing uses a battle-staff to dispatch bad guys quickly.
All this action unfolds in an open-world recreation of Gotham City, where the Bat-Family will face off against notorious supervillains like the Joker, Ra’s al Ghul, Two-Face, Poison Ivy, The Penguin, Mr. Freeze, Bane, and Firefly. Batman can also develop and acquire new Batmobiles to zip through Gotham, including several iconic vehicles from films and TV series such as Batman ’89, The Dark Knight, and Batman: The Animated Series. When he’s not battling crime, Batman can recharge at the Batcave, which is filled with Easter eggs like Two-Face’s giant penny and a collection of Batsuits. In total, there are 100 suits and outfits to collect for the Bat-Family.
For those interested in preorders, there are also deals on several games launching before Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, including Resident Evil: Requiem on February 27, Pragmata on April 24, and both Housemarque’s roguelite action title Saros and the Invincible fighting game on April 30.
