From major titles like Grand Theft Auto 6 to hidden indie gems, game release dates can shift unexpectedly. However, it’s a rare treat when a game gets its launch date moved up. That’s the case with the upcoming Lego Batman game, Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, which is set to arrive a bit sooner than anticipated.

Warner Bros. Games has announced that Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will now debut on May 22, a week earlier than its original May 29 date. Unfortunately, Nintendo Switch 2 players will have to wait a bit longer, as a release date for that platform has yet to be confirmed.

The excitement for Legacy of the Dark Knight has been palpable since its reveal at Gamescom last summer, with fans eagerly awaiting a new adventure featuring the Dark Knight. This game serves as a spiritual successor to Rocksteady’s Arkham series, which fans have been craving since 2015’s Batman: Arkham Knight. It draws inspiration from various Batman films, including the classic Michael Keaton movies and the 2022 release, The Batman.

After its Gamescom reveal, players got a taste of the action, with reports highlighting the engaging brawling, stealth mechanics, and exploration elements. The demo showcased the expected blocky designs and impressive animation quality that fans have come to love.

Pre-orders for Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight are now open. Those who pre-order will receive a Batsuit inspired by The Dark Knight Returns, while players opting for the deluxe edition can jump in early on May 19. This deluxe version will also feature extra cosmetics and DLC missions, allowing players to take on the roles of The Joker and Harley, set to release in 2026.
