Lego Launches Its First Pokémon Sets, Featuring a $650 Kanto Mega Build

Catching them all is a thing of the past. Now, it’s all about building them! On Monday, Lego unveiled its inaugural collection of Pokémon sets, allowing fans to construct their favorite pocket monsters and showcase them. These sets will launch on February 26, with preorders starting on January 12.

While Pokémon may be small, these sets are anything but. Designed primarily as display pieces, they’re not intended for play. Let’s be real—playing with a 2,000-piece Pikachu Lego build could turn into a disaster, with tiny yellow bricks scattered everywhere.

The initial wave features three main sets, showcasing a total of five Pokémon. The smallest set lets you create your own Eevee. The Pikachu set falls in the middle and includes a buildable Pokéball for display purposes. For those willing to splurge, the largest set boasts an impressive 6,838 pieces and is priced at $649.99, featuring a trio of Kanto Pokémon evolutions: Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise.

If you grab the Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise set before March 3, you’ll receive a bonus build of the Kanto Region Badge Collection, complete with a display box. This bonus includes all eight Kanto region badges and consists of 312 pieces.

Lego Insiders can also look forward to a micro-build available for points. Starting February 27, while supplies last, you can exchange 2,500 Insider Rewards points for a Mini Pokémon Center build.

Interestingly, despite the recent announcement, these new sets do not feature Smart Play technology. That innovation will debut in the upcoming Star Wars sets in March.
