Lorde Critiques Ray-Ban Meta AI Glasses for Lacking Style
During her performance at the Mad Cool Festival in Madrid, Lorde took a moment to voice her concerns about AI glasses. While she didn’t name any specific brands, her remarks seemed aimed at festival sponsor Ray-Ban, known for its collaboration with Meta on AI smart glasses.
Videos of her comments circulated on social media, where she expressed gratitude to the audience for participating in “something real.” She highlighted the growing difficulty in distinguishing reality, stating, “You don’t know if someone is wearing sunglasses or if they’re wearing those messed up… Can I just say, for the record, forget the glasses. Don’t get the glasses. Not sexy.”
These comments come as Meta faces increased scrutiny regarding its smart glasses, even as reports suggest plans for a new pair of “super sensing” glasses that continuously record. Following Lorde on stage was Blackpink’s Jennie, who serves as a Ray-Ban Meta AI ambassador and has appeared in various advertising campaigns.
