Magic Reveals Secret Lair Goblin Storm Details—Surprising Value Unveiled!
Magic: The Gathering’s highly anticipated Secret Lair Commander Deck, Goblin Storm, has officially locked in its release date.
This 100-card preconstructed deck, featuring fresh artwork from the Goblin enthusiast Wizard of Barge, is set to launch on May 18 through the Secret Lair storefront. Players can express their interest on the site starting today.
“Secret Lair has always embraced the whimsical side of nature, and we’re here to tackle the age-old question: ‘How many Goblins can I gather before I storm in and smash my opponents?’” said Steve Sunu, Principal Product Lead for Secret Lair. “If that resonates with you, this deck is tailor-made for your Goblin-loving heart! We collaborated with some of Wizards of the Coast’s top designers and enlisted one of Secret Lair’s beloved artists, a true Goblin aficionado, to help you find your answer.”
When you grab this deck, you’ll receive 12 new Foil borderless cards adorned with fresh art, 22 borderless Mountains, and 3 non-foil reprints, along with 63 non-foil reprints featuring existing artwork.
Additionally, the package includes a deck box, foil Goblin tokens, non-foil double-sided tokens, a Storm Counter, and a display Commander card for Zada, Hedron Grinder.
As for the value, it’s looking pretty solid. While Zada is an affordable card, don’t underestimate the deck’s worth. Roaming Throne can fetch up to $90 for the foil version, and Goblin Lackey hovers around $30.
Other cards like Seething Song, Ruby Medallion, Throne of Eldraine, and Shinka, the Bloodsoaked Keep can also be pricey. I ran the decklist through Moxfield, and it estimated around $350 in value, not even factoring in the new artwork.
The deck will retail for $149.99, which might seem steep, but if you’re eager to build a mono-red Goblin deck filled with stunning art, it’s tough to argue against that value.
Honestly, I’ve faced defeat at the hands of Krenko and his crew more times than I’d like to admit, so this deck seems like a fantastic addition. Plus, Roaming Throne is a great fit for any tribal deck.
Goblin Storm promises to deliver exceptional value.
