Magic: The Gathering’s K-Pop Demon Hunters Secret Lair Launches Ahead of Schedule

Not long after Hasbro teamed up with Netflix to bring KPop Demon Hunters toys and merchandise to life, the company’s CEO, Chris Cocks, revealed that a new Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair product was also in the works. Fast forward nearly a year, and we’re finally getting a glimpse of its release date.

On Tuesday, the official Secret Lair and Bluesky accounts dropped a teaser for an upcoming Superdrop titled “Corn Maze,” set to launch on October 12. The four teaser images hint at a sprawling corn maze at night, filled with various objects, giving it a spooky, Halloween vibe. While there are some hints to decipher, the major reveals are hidden in plain sight within the copyright and trademark notices at the bottom, which mention Marvel, KPop Demon Hunters, and Jim Henson’s Labyrinth. This suggests we can expect at least one Drop for each of these franchises.

Cocks noted during Hasbro’s Q3 2025 earnings call, “Magic has proven that it can accommodate a wide range of IPs. One of the best-selling Secret Lair products ever was SpongeBob SquarePants. If we can get people excited about SpongeBob collectible cards, I’m confident we can do the same with one of the biggest movies of all time.”

Among the clues in the teaser images is a magpie sporting a traditional Korean gat, which unmistakably represents Sussie, the demon bird often seen alongside the large tiger Derpy in KPop Demon Hunters. Initially, Sussie and Derpy served as companions and messengers for Jinu of the Saja Boys, but by the film’s conclusion, they have come under Rumi’s care. In the final scene, Rumi exits the bathhouse with Mira and Zoey, greeting enthusiastic fans, while Sussie flies by and lands on Derpy’s head from a nearby rooftop.

Details about the Corn Maze Superdrop remain scarce, aside from the three properties involved and the reveal date of October 12, which is likely when the Superdrop will be available for purchase. The inclusion of Marvel is expected, given the ongoing Magic collaboration that has featured 2025’s Marvel’s Spider-Man and June’s Marvel Super Heroes, but the Drops will likely have a horror theme in some form. (Marvel Zombies, anyone?)

The legal disclaimer mentions the Jim Henson Company alongside Labyrinth Enterprises, the rights holder for the 1986 film Labyrinth. The clock featured in the maze likely alludes to Sarah’s 13-hour quest to rescue Toby, and the hand seen in one image is undoubtedly that of David Bowie’s Goblin King, Jareth, clutching his mystical crystal balls.

October has historically been a prime time for significant Secret Lair releases. The October 2022 Superdrop featured 11 distinct Drops, so it’s possible that Marvel, KPop Demon Hunters, and Labyrinth could each receive three. One thing is certain: Huntr/x and the Saja Boys deserve their own Drops, and we genuinely hope some of these will feature mechanically unique cards.

Netflix is also set to launch KPop Demon Hunters: The Immersive Experience at select locations.
