Major GTA 5 Leak Uncovers Abandoned DLC Ideas and Early GTA 6 Content
Weeks after a wave of leaks surrounding Grand Theft Auto 6 ahead of its major reveal on Netflix, Rockstar Games is facing another leak issue. This time, a treasure trove of data from Grand Theft Auto 5 has emerged, revealing a wealth of canceled DLC plans, discarded assets, and more for fans to explore.
In 2023, the source code for GTA 5 was leaked, containing around four to five GB of data. The latest leaks, however, are significantly larger, totaling approximately 192 GB, as noted by GTA content creators like TJGM. Among the findings is a massive map of Liberty City intended for a GTA 5 DLC that never saw the light of day. Liberty City, the series’ take on New York City, has appeared in multiple GTA titles. Speculation is rife, particularly from creators like TJGM, that this Liberty City DLC was scrapped for GTA 5 but may have been repurposed for the upcoming GTA 6, though there’s no concrete evidence to support this theory.
The existence of a canceled “Agent Trevor” DLC has been known for a while. This content would have featured Trevor, one of the protagonists of GTA 5, channeling his inner James Bond as a secret agent. Trevor’s voice actor, Steven Ogg, suggested that the DLC was shelved so Rockstar could concentrate on the lucrative GTA Online.
Details about the “Agent Trevor” missions have leaked, providing insight into the wild escapades Trevor would have embarked on as a spy. Expect classic spy antics like torture, bomb defusal, and jetpack escapes. There were even plans for casino sequences where Trevor could have engaged in a roulette minigame while thwarting an assassination attempt. Interior environments for some of these missions have also surfaced.
Additionally, cut vehicles from GTA 5 have been revealed, including a comical dog with a wheel alongside construction vehicles and a space rover-like contraption, sparking curiosity about whether players could have once ridden dogs. Other vehicles, such as a golf cart, boat, and police car, have also been uncovered.
The leaks don’t stop at GTA 5; early assets for GTA 6 have also been discovered, including maps and 3D building models. While some sources claim these assets date back to 2023, they likely originate from a very early prototype of GTA 6 from 2015.
Players can also listen to unused humorous dialogue, cut mission lines, and dialogue from an original version of ending A, which would have seen Trevor crash into a tank of liquid nitrogen and freeze (yikes). There’s a lot to sift through in these leaks, and more discoveries are sure to come. Users on various platforms have already started compiling and summarizing the findings.
With Grand Theft Auto 6 set to launch on November 19, 13 years after the release of GTA 5 in 2013, excitement is building. The game will be available digitally on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, taking inspiration from Miami in real life, featuring a nudist camp, and even getting its own special PS5 controller, which scalpers are already targeting.
The soundtrack will include tracks from artists like Travis Scott, PinkPantheress, and more.
