Mario Kart World’s Latest Patch Offers More Than Just a New Mode

Mario Kart World just dropped a new patch, and while many are buzzing about the latest battle mode, the real game-changer is the nerf to the boomerang—thank goodness for that!

The 1.6.0 patch notes primarily focus on bug fixes, but there are also several balance adjustments alongside the introduction of the Bob-omb Blast Battle Mode. In this mode, players hurl Bob-ombs at each other to rack up points, featuring some unique tweaks like an increased carrying capacity and the ability to control the throw distance by holding down the L button. This mode, a classic from Mario Kart: Double Dash, adds some much-needed depth to World’s limited versus options.

While that’s exciting, the change I’m most thrilled about is the adjustment to the boomerang. Previously, players could throw it multiple times at opponents to stun and slow them down, but now its range has been shortened, and the number of consecutive throws has been reduced. This means we’ll see less spamming of this pesky item moving forward.

This change will surely bring relief to those who have felt the wrath of the boomerang, especially in Mario Kart World’s chaotic 24-player races, where even a minor setback can send you plummeting to the back of the pack.
