Mark Ruffalo is back in the spotlight, seemingly confirming the return of a fellow Avenger in Secret Wars.

In a recent interview, Ruffalo joined co-stars Chris Hemsworth and Halle Berry, where they were asked to guess who has appeared in the most superhero films.

When Hemsworth, one of the most active superhero actors as Thor, starts counting the Avengers movies, he quickly mentions a fifth—Avengers: Doomsday.

Ruffalo jumps in with “six,” prompting Hemsworth to respond, “We haven’t shot that one.”

It’s not hard to infer that Hemsworth will reprise his role as Thor in Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027. Perhaps Ruffalo will also return as Hulk/Bruce Banner, although he’s currently not listed for Avengers: Doomsday.

The MCU has plenty of directions to explore with Thor in the upcoming Avengers films. An emotional reunion with Tom Hiddleston’s Loki is still a possibility, and fans are likely eager to see the implications of Deadpool and Wolverine’s ‘spoiler’ involving Thor cradling a seriously injured Wade Wilson.

As for Ruffalo, he might be on thin ice with Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios. He famously revealed major plot points in Avengers: Infinity War alongside a surprised Don Cheadle and even accidentally live-streamed audio from the first 10 minutes of the Thor: Ragnarok premiere.

Ruffalo’s next appearance in the MCU will be in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027.
