Deadpool made his entrance into Marvel Rivals this past January as part of Season 6, and the mid-season update is introducing new ways to showcase his unique flair. Joining him is Elsa Bloodstone, who brings her own style to the hero shooter’s team dynamics.
As a skilled hunter, Elsa wields a rifle and shotgun, using traps to deal extra damage and hinder her foes. “Elsa excels at reading her opponents,” explains Guangguang, the creative director of Marvel Rivals, in his overview of Season 6.5. “She darts in and out of combat, looking for openings. When she spots her chance, she charges in, combining the devastating power of her elephant gun with expert close-quarters combat skills to finish the hunt.”
The more damage she inflicts, the faster her weapons cool down, suggesting that the best strategy involves switching between guns while staying mobile. One of her traps summons a creature named Diablo, who can latch onto enemies while Elsa goes in for the kill. That’s bound to be frustrating for opponents.
Her ultimate ability unleashes the formidable beast Glartrox, who will charge through the arena.
Elsa is also expanding Deadpool’s tag-team with Jeff the Land Shark—dubbed Mr. Pool’s Interdimensional Toy Box Team-Up—into a trio, as Deadpool modifies her Breathing Gun. When those enhanced bullets hit foes, they partially blind them, and enemies will hear Wade’s relentless one-liners up close. Players can even recall those shots to regain some health.
Forget frustrating; that sounds downright torturous. Meanwhile, the Fantastic Four is undergoing a shake-up, as three of its members have joined other teams. Invisible Woman teams up with Doctor Strange for Psionic Mayhem; The Thing joins Hulk and Black Panther in Gamma Charge; and Mister Fantastic teams up with Rocket and Star-Lord in Rocket Network.
As for Johnny Storm? His whereabouts remain a mystery, but who could blame him if he decided to take off? Anything to escape Deadpool’s constant chatter. Season 6.5 kicks off on February 13.
