Matt Groening hints at a possible revival of Simpsons: Hit & Run.

At D23, when asked about the possibility of a sequel to the beloved classic The Simpsons: Hit & Run, Matt Groening hinted, “I think the original game is coming back in some form,” while current showrunner Matt Selman chimed in with, “or not.” Their tone and body language suggested Groening might have let slip something he wasn’t meant to share.

Originally released in 2003 for PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, and Windows, the game has become a nostalgic favorite. While it can be run on modern PCs, it’s not available on current consoles. It’s absent from the PlayStation Plus Classics Catalog and isn’t on the Xbox backward compatibility list either. There’s a chance it could return as a straightforward port, but a more exciting option would be a full HD remaster. They wouldn’t even need to re-record the voice acting since the original cast delivered stellar performances the first time around. Alright, mindless drones, return to your ugly families.
