May’s PlayStation Plus Lineup Features an Essential Sidescrolling Soulslike Game

A new month is just around the corner, and as is tradition, PlayStation has unveiled the upcoming PlayStation Plus games for subscribers. This time, players can look forward to two distinct soulslike titles: *Nine Souls* and *Wuchang: Fallen Feathers*. Plus, there’s an EA soccer game thrown into the mix. Is soccer a soulslike? That’s up for debate!

On April 29, PlayStation announced the games for April, which will be accessible to all PS Plus subscribers across every tier. Starting May 5, these titles will be available for permanent addition to your PlayStation library. Once added, you can download and play them anytime as long as you maintain an active PS Plus Essential, Extra, or Premium subscription. Here’s the rundown of the games and their available platforms.

Make sure to snag these PS Plus monthly games before they disappear next month. The exact date for their removal isn’t clear this time, as Sony didn’t specify when they will leave in the announcement. A bit unusual! Regardless, a fresh batch of unannounced games will be available to subscribers in June.

I haven’t had the chance to dive into these games yet, but Rebekah Valentine has played *Nine Souls*, and here’s why she thinks it’s worth checking out next week:

The art and music are stunning, the story is genuinely engaging and emotional, and the gameplay feels incredibly polished. The controls are spot-on, with just the right amount of complexity introduced at a perfect pace. The combat is challenging yet fair, with adjustable difficulty settings to tailor the experience. This game has taught me to appreciate parrying and has shown me why well-crafted action games are so thrilling. It also solidified my love for soulslike games, as I realized how much I enjoy the process of practicing, making gradual improvements, and finally experiencing the exhilaration of success.

Don’t forget to add April’s free games to your PlayStation account library before they’re gone. You have until May 4 to grab *Lords of the Fallen*, *Tomb Raider I-III Remastered*, and *Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream*.
