Meccha Chameleon, the top-selling game of 2026, is set to launch on consoles.
2026’s standout gaming sensation is making its way to the Nintendo Switch 2. In the latest Nintendo Direct, it was revealed that Meccha Chameleon will launch on the platform later today. Previously, this hit title was exclusive to Steam, where it has already achieved over 20 million sales in just a few months.
For those who haven’t yet experienced it, Meccha Chameleon is a unique take on the prop-hunt genre. Players use paint tools to camouflage themselves within the environment while a hunter tries to find them. If the hunter spots a hidden player, they can “tag” them with a paint gun, bringing them onto their team.
Developed by the duo lemorion_1224 and Haganeiro, the game was released on June 9, 2026, after just two months of development. It reached a peak of 340,000 concurrent players on Steam. According to analytics expert Rhy Elliot, Meccha Chameleon outperformed every other game released in 2026 within its first month, selling 12.6 million copies by early July. Its nearest rivals included FC26 with 9.1 million, Resident Evil Requiem at 7.5 million, Forza Horizon 6 at 7.4 million, Arc Raiders at 7.4 million, and Slay the Spire 2 at 7 million.
Meccha Chameleon is the latest multiplayer “friendslop” phenomenon, designed for group play. Other recent hits in this genre include the humorous How to Fish, which, despite its title, doesn’t actually teach fishing, and what many are calling 2026’s best game, Big Walk.
While no announcements have been made yet, there’s potential for Meccha Chameleon to also launch on PlayStation and Xbox in the future; if it can run on a handheld, those platforms could be next in line.
This viral hit encourages players to tap into their creative side.
