Mega Gengar’s Tiny Feet Have Left Me Feeling Uneasy
Sometimes, you get so used to seeing a Pokémon in a specific way that you forget to imagine how it might appear in a different scenario. Take Mega Gengar, the enhanced version of the classic Ghost-type Pokémon. It’s typically depicted as if it’s lurking just beneath the surface, ready to pull any unsuspecting opponent into the void. This means its lower half is often hidden from view. However, Pokémon Champions flips the script in one notable moment, revealing that Mega Gengar has a surprisingly frog-like body with tiny, stubby feet. It’s a bit of a shocker.
This revelation comes into play when you use the one-hit knockout move Fissure, which creates a gaping hole beneath an enemy, sending them plummeting into the depths. In that brief moment, you get a glimpse of Mega Gengar’s body that’s usually buried underground, and yes, it has feet.
This shouldn’t be too surprising, considering Gengar has feet in its regular form. You’d think that even if its Mega form looks like it’s rising from the ground, its entire ghostly body remains intact during the transformation. It’s just amusing to see, especially since The Pokémon Company often goes to great lengths to obscure Mega Gengar’s feet, even in official merchandise like plush toys. While images of Mega Gengar’s full body have been around since its introduction in Pokémon X and Y, they’re so rare that many players haven’t really seen or thought about it.
So, enjoy this quirky tidbit. Now, I’m really curious about how Pokémon Champions will depict Dugtrio, another Pokémon shrouded in mystery regarding its underground appearance when hit by Fissure. It could finally reveal what this mole monster looks like, or Champions might just stick to showing what’s already visible.
