Meta Releases Open Source Code for Creating Muse AI Devices

Meta has rolled out the ability for users to create their own Muse gadgets featuring the company’s new AI agent, thanks to open-sourced code. You can embark on projects like loading Muse onto a color E Ink display for reminders, integrating it with an HDMI stick to showcase Muse on a larger screen, or even setting it up on a small touchscreen device to craft a DIY Muse Charm.

“Muse gadgets are open source devices you build yourself,” Meta explains. “You can program an off-the-shelf ESP32 board or set up a Raspberry Pi using our SDKs, then connect Muse to your displays, buttons, sensors, actuators, and whatever else you have lying around.” However, they do advise you to “Proceed at your own risk!”

Additionally, Meta is offering a Muse Home Link gadget that they developed. This device allows you to utilize community-built skills to have the AI agent perform tasks like “turning on a light, controlling your TV, sending a document to a printer, and more, depending on your setup,” according to the company. They’ve produced 5,000 of these gadgets, as noted by Nat Friedman from Meta Superintelligence Labs, and you can sign up for a waitlist for the Muse Home Link, with shipping expected sometime this month.
