Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 pays homage to classic role-playing games, offering a refreshing take for JRPG fans who have long felt sidelined. Not too long ago, Metaphor: ReFantazio was also in the running for Game of the Year. Now, the directors of these two modern gems are singing each other’s praises as they team up for a fantastic discount bundle on Steam.
This bundle currently offers both games at a 10% discount. Additionally, both titles are on sale individually, allowing you to snag two of the best RPGs in recent memory for around $72 USD—a solid deal. If you already own one, you can still grab the other at the bundle price, with Metaphor hitting its lowest-ever price on Steam at $35 USD.

Hashino, a veteran behind many beloved JRPGs like Shin Megami Tensei and the Persona series, has previously praised Expedition 33. “It’s heartening to witness Japanese-style RPGs flourishing not just from Japanese studios but from diverse creators globally,” he adds.

In a similar vein, Expedition 33 director Guillaume Broche shares, “Metaphor: ReFantazio is a source of inspiration for us. It weaves a beautiful narrative in a uniquely crafted world. It tackles profound themes, particularly the significance of imagination in our lives.”
Metaphor: ReFantazio was among our top picks for the best games of 2024, and personally, I believe it was the true Game of the Year. “The characters are endearing, and the turn-based combat system is one of the best I’ve experienced,” Broche notes, and I wholeheartedly agree. “The reimagining of the traditional job system through Archetypes is brilliant, offering a variety of enjoyable playstyles. Plus, the game features one of the most charismatic villains I’ve encountered in an RPG.”
