Microsoft is discontinuing the Office Lens app for iOS and Android.

Microsoft is set to discontinue its Lens scanner app for iOS and Android in the coming months. Known primarily as Office Lens, the app will lose support on February 9th, and it will cease to function entirely after March 9th.

The features that made Lens a handy portable scanner are now integrated into OneDrive, rendering the standalone app unnecessary. Users can still take photos of whiteboards, documents, and receipts, and then save and edit them within OneDrive. These images can easily be converted into Word or PDF files, with options for cropping and rotating.

Originally launched in 2015 for iOS and Android, Office Lens followed its debut on Windows Phone. It was notable for its seamless integration with Office and was part of Microsoft’s push to create “mobile-first” applications for iOS and Android a decade ago.
