MindsEye Developer Faces Closure Following Latest Layoffs
Over a year after the rocky launch of MindsEye, it seems the developer is facing another wave of layoffs. Social media posts from former employees suggest that the studio may be on the verge of shutting down completely.
“With a very heavy heart, I raise my green banner, along with the rest of my colleagues at Build a Rocket Boy,” said the principal talent acquisition partner, indicating the green #OpentoWork banner on his profile. “I will be seeing BARB through till the very end, helping wrap things up here in the HR department,” he noted, hinting at an imminent closure. Lead 3D weapon/prop artist also shared similar sentiments, stating, “Unfortunately, along with the rest of my colleagues at Build a Rocket Boy, I am facing redundancy and now looking for a new opportunity.”
“After four years at Build a Rocket Boy, I’ve unfortunately been given my redundancy notice along with some of my fellow colleagues,” remarked the release manager. As of now, the studio has not publicly addressed the scale of the layoffs.
The studio has been contacted for clarification, and updates will follow.
MindsEye had a tumultuous launch in June 2025, which resulted in layoffs and its reputation as one of the worst games of that year. A significant update was rolled out earlier in 2026, just before another round of layoffs, amid allegations of “espionage and corporate sabotage” from the studio’s co-CEO. This claim of “sabotage” later became the foundation for MindsEye’s poorly received DLC. Staff members then took legal action against the studio for privacy violations and protested outside the studio during a paid playtest for fans.
The developer is now ‘assuming sole publishing responsibilities.’
