Minecraft Dungeons 2 Revealed Alongside Plans for a UK Minecraft Theme Park
It’s an exciting time to be a Minecraft enthusiast! The announcement of Minecraft Dungeons 2, touted as the “next chapter” in the loot-filled action RPG series, has just dropped, and it promises to be brimming with treasures and foes, just like its predecessor.
This reveal came during Mojang’s inaugural Minecraft Live event of 2026, where they showcased what fans can look forward to in the coming year. While there were several updates discussed for the original Minecraft, the standout news was undoubtedly the unveiling of Minecraft Dungeons 2, which will serve as a sequel to the original game released in 2020.
Minecraft Dungeons 2 will take players on a linear adventure, stepping away from the open-world, mining, and building elements of Minecraft. Instead, it embraces the dungeon crawler format, allowing players to tackle randomly generated monsters, solve puzzles, and journey to the dungeon’s end in search of valuable loot, either solo or with friends through local and online multiplayer. It definitely has that Dungeons & Dragons vibe!
This sequel is set to elevate the experience with more exhilarating challenges, an abundance of loot, and brand-new locations for players to explore within the Minecraft universe.
While an official release date beyond 2026 hasn’t been confirmed yet, players can look forward to hacking and slashing alongside friends on various platforms. Minecraft Dungeons 2 is set to launch on PC (Steam and Xbox on PC), Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5, and it will also be available through Microsoft’s Game Pass.
Additionally, fans will have the chance to immerse themselves in the Minecraft world in real life. Mojang and Merlin Entertainments announced that Minecraft World, a theme park experience that brings the game’s environments and gameplay to life, is set to open at Chessington World of Adventures in Greater London in 2027.
