MinnMax Gaming Show Parts Ways with YouTuber Jacob Geller Following Allegations of Past Misconduct

Jacob Geller, a prominent YouTube critic and video essayist with over a million subscribers, has been removed from the gaming channel MinnMax following serious allegations of sexual assault.

The accusations emerged on September 30 on X, where a now-deleted post claimed that Geller was dismissed from a position at the University of North Carolina’s college radio station in 2016 after an investigation into alleged sexual misconduct. This revelation came amid renewed conversations about sexual assault on college campuses, spurred by a recent civil lawsuit related to an alleged rape at Cornell in 2024.

As the allegations gained traction on social media and were discussed on the gaming forum ResetEra, some users began to investigate further. They discovered that in 2020, the North Carolina Supreme Court mandated UNC to release records of students who had breached the university’s sexual assault policy. This list included 15 students who were enrolled between 2007 and 2020.

Geller’s name was found in the archived records, indicating that he had violated the school’s policies regarding “Sexual Assault or Sexual Violence” and received a “definite suspension for one semester,” which aligns with the initial claims of a one-semester suspension.

MinnMax initially addressed the situation on its Discord server, expressing that the allegations were “deeply upsetting” and that they were engaging in “internal conversations about the next steps” on September 30. On October 1, they issued a follow-up statement confirming Geller’s departure from the channel.

“Jacob Geller is no longer a part of MinnMax,” the statement on Bluesky read. “He won’t be on content moving forward, and we won’t be publicly airing this week’s episode of The MinnMax Show. We’re in shock and deeply hurt. Thank you for your patience during this sensitive time.”

Attempts to reach Geller for comment were unsuccessful before publication. Additionally, the podcast Cane and Rinse has announced it will be removing all episodes featuring Geller.
