Monster Hunter Wilds Hints at Expansion and Final Update Amidst PC Comeback

Capcom has announced that a significant expansion for last year’s Monster Hunter Wilds will be unveiled later this year. Additionally, next week marks the one-year anniversary update for Wilds, which will bring further PC performance enhancements and serve as the final major content update for the base game. The big question remains: will these changes help boost the game’s ratings on Steam?

On February 9, Capcom released a new video to celebrate the one-year milestone of Monster Hunter Wilds. In this fan-centric video, series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto hinted at more details regarding the expansion, set to be revealed this summer, and teased its scale.

“We are currently developing a large-scale expansion akin to Monster Hunter World: Iceborne and Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak for Monster Hunter: Wilds,” Tsujimoto stated. “We plan to share more information with you this summer.”

While specifics about the expansion were scarce, Tsujimoto did outline what players can expect from the anniversary update arriving on February 18. This update will feature crossover content with the upcoming spin-off, Monster Hunter Stories 3, along with an anniversary event that will make many previous rewards and quests available again. Additionally, past seasonal events will return in a weekly rotation, and players who log in during the event will receive a complimentary item pack.

On the performance front, Tsujimoto shared some positive news regarding the ongoing issues that have affected Wilds since its launch last February.

“We have been implementing improvements to game stability and performance since Title Update 4,” he noted, “and this [February 18] update will introduce even further enhancements.”

This anniversary update marks the last major content update for the game as the Monster Hunter Wilds team shifts focus to the upcoming expansion. Hopefully, this final update will significantly enhance PC performance. If not, modders are likely to continue their excellent work in that area.
