Mortal Kombat 2 Home Release Dates Announced – Check Out an Exclusive Clip!

Mortal Kombat enthusiasts can look forward to enjoying this year’s live-action sequel from the comfort of their homes starting in June. The film will be available for digital purchase on June 9, with a physical release set for July.

After raking in over $122 million worldwide since its theatrical debut on May 8, the sequel will be accessible through various digital platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home. The physical copies will hit shelves on July 28, available in 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD formats. A streaming release date for HBO Max has yet to be revealed.

The physical edition of the film will come packed with special features, including a behind-the-scenes look at the stunt work and choreography. Fans can expect to see the actors portraying Johnny Cage, Shao Kahn, Scorpion, and Sindel discussing the physical challenges of bringing their characters to life.

The bonus features for the physical release of the film include:

Mortal Kombat 2 features Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, with Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Tati Gabrielle as Jade, Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Damon Herriman as Quan Chi, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han/Noob Saibot, and Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi/Scorpion.

As a follow-up to the 2021 live-action reboot, Mortal Kombat 2 has received mostly positive feedback from critics, with fans particularly enjoying the action sequences, the focus on beloved characters, and the gruesome, game-accurate Fatalities.

In a review, one critic noted that the sequel feels more like a collection of expertly choreographed fight scenes set against beautifully designed backdrops, rather than a cohesive film. It serves as a response to fan criticism of the previous installment, aiming to deliver what the Mortal Kombat community desires. However, those seeking strong storytelling may find it lacking.

A third installment in the Mortal Kombat franchise was announced last year by the sequel’s screenwriter, although this was before Mortal Kombat 2’s release and its underwhelming box office performance. Fans are hopeful that Mortal Kombat 3 will still materialize, revealing what lies ahead for Liu Kang.

While the impalement-heavy fatalities in Mortal Kombat 2 may not achieve a flawless victory, many have earned the Sicko stamp of approval.
