Mortal Kombat and The Boys Actor Takes on Pirate Role in New Swashbuckling Adventure Film from Haven Director

The first trailer for The Bluff has dropped, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas is set to unleash some serious pirate action.

In this short clip, set in 1846, we meet Ercell Bodden (Jonas), who seems to be enjoying life with her daughters until the notorious Captain Connor (Karl Urban) resurfaces, seeking vengeance from her past as a fearsome pirate. Ercell’s daughters soon discover that their mother was once known as Bloody Mary, a legendary assassin-style pirate with a knack for killing.

Directed by Frank E. Flowers, who previously worked on the thriller Haven, the film features a screenplay co-written with Joe Ballarini. The cast includes Ismael Cruz Córdova, Safia Oakley-Green, Vedanten Naidoo, Temuera Morrison, Zack Morris, David Field, and Pacharo Mzembe, with Anthony and Joe Russo serving as executive producers. Originally announced in 2021 with Zoey Saldana attached to the lead role, she remains involved as an executive producer.

According to the official tagline, The Bluff is a “gritty, adrenaline-fueled action-adventure about family, survival, and the indomitable strength of a mother’s love.” Despite the intense violence, Prime Video assures viewers that the film can be enjoyed with “family and friends.”

Mark your calendars for The Bluff, which premieres on Prime Video on February 25.
