Mova’s New Robot Vacuum Tackles Kitchen Stool Challenges

Robot vacuums are fantastic for keeping your floors spotless, but they do have their limitations—stairs are a big one, and so are chairs and stools. Picture this: you’ve got a row of stools at your kitchen table or chairs tucked under a dining table, and your robovac just can’t navigate around them, leaving behind a collection of dust bunnies. Since these are often areas where you eat, crumbs and food debris can pile up quickly.

Sure, you can move the chairs out of the way to give the robot some space, but then you’re left with dirty chair legs and have done half the work yourself. Enter Mova with a clever solution.

Their latest robot vacuum and mop, the V70 Ultra Complete ($1,299.99), features a mop on an articulating arm that extends nearly 7 inches from the robot, along with a side brush that reaches 5 inches. This design, combined with its compact size, allows the V70 to clean under and around stool legs at your kitchen counter, effectively mopping up to the edges and using its brush to sweep away debris. Watching it in action is quite impressive.

After just 5 minutes on max suction, the Mova obliterated the dust bunnies under my counter, thanks to its powerful 42,000Pa suction and dual roller brushes, leaving the area around the stools spotless. The mop arm also proves useful for tackling grime under the fridge, along the TV console, and in those tricky corners.

Mova is a sub-brand of Dreame, known for innovating mopping solutions like the mop that extends outwards from the robot to clean baseboards and edges more effectively. The Mova V70 takes this concept further with its robotic mop arm, allowing it to scrub under and around furniture much like you would when cleaning manually.

Mova isn’t alone in this innovation; Dreame showcased a similar technology earlier this year with the X60 Pro, which features a larger mop and a more agile arm, though it hasn’t hit the US market yet.

I’ve only spent a day testing the Mova V70, but I’m impressed by this innovation; it’s a more practical use of robotic technology than just picking up shoes or sprouting legs to climb stairs.

The V70 comes with a multifunction base station that cleans and dries its mop while emptying its bin, and it doesn’t require disposable bags; instead, it has a canister that you can easily empty when full. It uses lidar for navigation and cameras for obstacle detection, can lift itself over thresholds of about 3.5 inches, and removes its mops when vacuuming carpet.

At $1,300, it’s one of Mova’s pricier models, and while its build quality may not match Dreame’s $1,500 flagship X60 Max Ultra Complete, its compact size and impressive mopping capabilities make it a solid option for anyone looking to tackle those grungy floors under tables and counters.
