Just like Link on his quest for treasures in The Legend of Zelda, I’m on a mission to track down a specific piece of merchandise that has become my white whale.
Ironically, it’s quite small. Have you heard of Nendoroids? These adorable action figures from Good Smile Company bring pop culture icons (often from anime) to life in charming miniature form, complete with accessories and a variety of expressions. They also boast impressive articulation, allowing for a multitude of poses. As highlighted in our guide, the Wind Waker Link version is among the best Legend of Zelda merchandise available.
The Wind Waker Nendoroid is currently priced at $59.99. While you can find it on Amazon, the price is a bit steep. I recommend pre-ordering the re-release from Crunchyroll’s official store, as it’s much more affordable and set to arrive in March. With all the accessories and expressions included, the wait is definitely worth it. In the UK, it’s priced at £64.98 on Amazon.
Unlike some toys inspired by the animated series, this figure captures Link’s cartoonish look perfectly; it feels like he’s jumped straight off the screen and onto our shelves. Recreating an animated character in real life can be tricky (just look at the early Toy Story mascot costumes for a laugh), but Good Smile has nailed it here. It genuinely feels like a 1:1 replica.
Having fallen in love with Wind Waker when I first played it in the early 2000s, especially its art style, I find this figure irresistible. However, I surprisingly have very little Wind Waker merchandise at home. That’s why the Nendoroid figure has become my top priority. Sure, the amiibo versions are cool, but this takes it to another level. You can pose Link with his sword and shield or the Wind Waker itself, even recreating sneaky moments, which is just fantastic. Kudos to Good Smile Company for including that delightful, unnecessary expression.
With Zelda’s 40th anniversary upon us, perhaps this will finally be the year I snag it. Or maybe I’ll settle for an official Master Sword replica…
