Netflix announces the final season of Blue Eye Samurai is on the way.

Netflix’s visually stunning animated revenge saga, Blue Eye Samurai, was renewed shortly after its November 2023 debut, but fans have been eagerly anticipating nearly three years for Mizu (Maya Erskine) to continue her quest to track down and confront her father. The wait is finally over, as Netflix revealed exciting updates about the series at Anime NYC on August 20.

The second season of Blue Eye Samurai is set to premiere in January 2027, accompanied by a thrilling 90-second teaser. This sneak peek includes scenes from the season one finale, where arms dealer Abijah Fowler (Kenneth Branagh) convinces Mizu to spare his life by offering assistance in her journey to London, where she hopes to find the two remaining white men who could be her father. The teaser hints at a tumultuous sea voyage, with a storm threatening the ship and sending sailors overboard. Mizu, filled with rage, reaffirms her commitment to vengeance as she takes control of the ship.

In a tense moment, Mizu wakes up on deck with a sword aimed at her, likely wielded by Fowler, who seems to have escaped from his confinement at the end of season one. Their dynamic appears unsettlingly friendly in footage of Mizu’s arrival in Europe, which was showcased at the Annecy Festival in June. While we haven’t seen much of Mizu’s allies back in Japan, an earlier preview assured fans that they won’t be forgotten. Mizu’s apprentice Ringo (Masi Oka) is on a quest for new direction, while Princess Akemi (Brenda Song) navigates the complexities of royal politics following the Shogun’s death.

In addition to the season two announcement, Netflix also confirmed that the series’ third and final season is already in production. This gives hope that fans won’t have to endure another lengthy wait to witness the conclusion of Mizu’s journey.
