Netflix unveils the trailer for its gripping six-part thriller series, Below.

In 2026, the gaming world is buzzing with underwater creature features, thanks to titles like Thrash, Deep Water, The Devil’s Mouth, and Chum. However, Netflix’s upcoming thriller Below is set to carve its own niche, focusing on a more enigmatic underwater monster that haunts a tranquil Newfoundland town. This unseen terror seems to be devouring entire houseboats, leaving the locals in a state of fear.

This six-part suspense series stars Josh Hartnett, Charlie Heaton, and Mackenzie Davis. Hartnett takes on the role of Calvin Penney, a fisherman grappling with the shadow of his father’s mysterious death, while Heaton plays his son, Wade. Calvin is portrayed as the linchpin of the community, which is under siege from an unidentified sea creature, with Davis stepping in as a visiting marine biologist.

The tension escalates with Wade’s erratic behavior, highlighted in the trailer where he’s seen confronting a massive iceberg in a rather unconventional manner. It seems young Wade might have a psychic link to whatever lurks beneath the waves.

Here’s a glimpse of what Below is about, set to stream in October:

Calvin Penney (Josh Hartnett) is a kind-hearted yet headstrong fisherman in a small Newfoundland town, still haunted by his father’s mysterious death from years past. When an unknown sea creature starts terrorizing his community, Calvin must rally his close-knit town. With the safety of his son Wade (Charlie Heaton) and family at stake, he partners with a visiting marine researcher (Mackenzie Davis) to confront the creature and uncover the island’s hidden secrets before it’s too late. This series blends local folklore, thrilling suspense, and heartfelt humor, exploring themes of family, community, and the inevitable changes that come with both terror and time.

Below is crafted by creator Jesse McKeown, known for his work on other popular series.

Mark your calendars for Below, arriving on Netflix on October 8 as a limited series.
