Netflix’s Dealies to Feature a Comedy-Centric Joe Bennett Series

Joe Bennett’s upcoming animated series is set to take a different direction from his previous projects, Scavengers Reign and Common Side Effects. The new Netflix series, Dealies, will delve into the quirky lives of employees at a big-box store, with an antique shop across the street adding a touch of competition.

In a recent interview discussing Common Side Effects, which is gearing up for its second season, Bennett shared some insights about Dealies, which is slated for release in 2027.

“My earlier original shorts leaned heavily into comedy. This new series draws more from that style,” Bennett explained. “It’s an episodic comedy featuring a cast of characters working together in a big-box store.”

Steve Hely, who collaborates with Bennett on Common Side Effects but is not part of Dealies, described the new show as character-driven and focused on the peculiarities of everyday life.

“It’s quintessentially Joe Bennett—very character-centric and observational,” Hely noted. “It features offbeat characters that exist in our world, capturing the weirdness around us.”

Netflix announced Dealies earlier this year as an adult animated series, with Bennett and writer Ted Travelstead serving as showrunners, writers, and executive producers. The project is produced by Green Street Pictures, a studio co-founded by Bennett.

The official logline introduces a cast of unusual staff members, including “a savant salesman,” “a gentle gladiator,” and “a summoner of the divine,” along with the unfortunate individual who hired them. They are portrayed as masters of commerce who occasionally manage to get some actual work done.

Bennett previously co-created Scavengers Reign, a surreal sci-fi series about humans stranded on an alien planet, and Common Side Effects, an Adult Swim conspiracy comedy centered around a mushroom with world-altering potential. Both shows reflect his fascination with bizarre worlds and eccentric characters, while Dealies seems to channel that creativity into a more familiar environment.

While Netflix has not yet revealed a specific release date for Dealies, the series is currently anticipated to debut sometime in 2027.
