New Avatar: Seven Havens Trailer Unveils Korra’s Role in the World’s Destruction
Avatar Studios’ inaugural project, Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, takes place 13 years after the conclusion of Avatar: The Last Airbender, allowing fans to reconnect with their favorite characters. The studio’s upcoming series, Avatar: Seven Havens, marks a significant shift, set around 300 years later in a post-apocalyptic world where the Avatar is viewed with disdain. A new teaser for the series, debuting on Paramount Plus in October, offers an exciting glimpse into this transformed setting and the events that led to such a dire situation.
Avatar: Seven Havens unfolds 225 years after the events of the sequel series, The Legend of Korra. Given that Avatars can have lifespans much longer than ordinary humans, the trailer features an aged Korra, now with white-streaked hair, seemingly unleashing fire and spirit energy tentacles in a fit of rage against a city. This moment is immortalized in a mural depicting her in the Avatar state as a menacing figure.
This poses a significant challenge for the new Avatar, Pavi, an Earthbender who is even younger than Aang was at the start of his journey. Pavi resides in Ellora, a city nestled between canyons that shield it from relentless sandstorms and tornadoes. The children there grow up learning to despise the Avatar, blamed for the cataclysm that has befallen their world. However, when the Airbender Jae becomes trapped under debris during a sandstorm, Pavi reveals her identity as the Avatar by harnessing both Earthbending and Airbending.
As news of the Avatar’s return spreads through Ellora, Jae attempts to shield Pavi from those seeking to capture her. They also confront the anger of the spirit world, which threatens the fragile safety of their city. Along the way, Pavi discovers she has a twin sister, Nisha, another Earthbender accompanied by her own giant cat-monkey. They also encounter members of the Order of the White Lotus, the ancient secret society dedicated to protecting and training the Avatar.
Series co-creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko have indicated that Avatar: Seven Havens will focus more on mystery than their previous works. The show has already been greenlit for two seasons, each consisting of 13 episodes, promising a gradual unveiling of the reasons behind Korra’s cataclysmic actions, the separation of Pavi and Nisha, and the current state of the spirit world.
Avatar: Seven Havens begins streaming on Paramount Plus on October 9.
