New Avengers: Doomsday Poster Teases Major Film Mystery
A fresh poster for Avengers: Doomsday was revealed at Comic-Con Málaga on October 3. While it doesn’t provide any new insights into the film, it does highlight three enigmatic characters that remain shrouded in mystery. With Halloween around the corner, this poster has sparked my curiosity about the true identities of the Latverian Witches.
In the new poster, Doctor Doom is positioned at the base of an impressive staircase, likely in Latveria. He’s accompanied by three witches, each adorned in a distinct color. Although these characters are commonly referred to as the Latverian Witches, Marvel has kept their backgrounds largely under wraps.
It appears these witches will play a crucial role in aiding Doctor Doom with his ambitious plans in Avengers: Doomsday, but it seems improbable that they are entirely new characters. There are several familiar faces that could easily fit the bill as the Latverian Witches.
Exploring the magical side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe reveals a number of plausible candidates. Doctor Strange, Clea, and Scarlet Witch stand out as likely options, especially since their activities since Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness remain a mystery.
Bruce Banner could also be a contender, particularly since Doctor Doom abducts him at the conclusion of Avengers: Endgame Encore. Additionally, Sylvie from Loki might make sense due to her ties to the unraveling multiverse. While it’s a bit of a stretch, characters like Agatha Harkness, Jennifer Kale, or even Death from Agatha All Along could potentially appear as the Latverian Witches as well.
It’s doubtful that Marvel Studios will disclose the identities of the Latverian Witches before the film’s release, so I’ll be pondering this mystery until Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18.
