New Card Type Introduced in Upcoming Pokémon TCG Pocket Expansion

The Pokémon Company has unveiled Dual Fusion, the upcoming major expansion for Pokémon TCG Pocket, set to launch in just over a week. This expansion will introduce dual-type cards to the game, along with a variety of special packs and events celebrating significant anniversaries. Mark your calendars for the release on Oct. 28 at 6:00 p.m.

Dual Fusion aligns with TCG Pocket’s second anniversary, making the introduction of dual-type cards particularly fitting. These cards feature two types instead of one, allowing for fresh strategic possibilities. For instance, Mega Mewtwo X ex is a dual Psychic and Fighting-type card. While dual-type cards have been a staple in the physical card game for some time, this expansion finally brings them to the mobile version. Plus, the dual-type cards showcase stunning illustrations that are sure to impress.

To commemorate the game’s second anniversary, a special event will kick off with the release of Dual Fusion and run until Dec. 14. During this period, players will receive a ticket that can be exchanged for a booster pack guaranteed to include a two-star card. Following this, starting on Dec. 15, players will have the opportunity to rent six Dual Fusion decks to experiment with the new cards.

In addition to the Dual Fusion launch, Pokémon TCG Pocket will host several exciting events featuring beautiful new cards. The first is Pika Pika! Pikachu Missions, celebrating 30 years of Pokémon TCG. Beginning on Oct. 20, 2026, and lasting for a year, players can log in for 10 days to claim a special immersive Pikachu ex card, exclusive to this event. Players can also earn Pika Pika! Pikachu packs and accessories.

On Oct. 31, Special Pack: First Partners will become available. These unique packs can be opened using special pack stamina, which replenishes weekly. Each pack guarantees a one-star card, showcasing the first partner Pokémon from each of the nine regions in the Pokémon world. This event will wrap up on Dec. 26.

There are 14 different products available for purchase, each featuring its own promo card and other TCG treasures.
