New Edgerunners Set Coming to Cyberpunk’s Trading Card Game, Featuring an Exclusive Card Reveal
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners has just dropped its second season on Netflix, and if there’s one thing we’ve picked up over the past six years since the launch of Cyberpunk 2077, it’s that the team behind this franchise loves to create synergy. With the new anime out, an update for Cyberpunk 2077 on the horizon, and the Cyberpunk Trading Card Game set to release an Edgerunners-themed expansion, there’s a lot to be excited about.
The new set, titled Burn Bright, is set to hit retailers next spring. It will be available in both English and French, with a Chinese version planned for a later release. While the complete card list hasn’t been unveiled yet, players can expect foil and textured cards, along with a new chase rarity that will be disclosed in the future. Burn Bright will also introduce fresh gameplay mechanics, with developer WeirdCo promising more details in the coming months.
Elliot Cook, co-founder of WeirdCo, expressed enthusiasm about the community’s response to the Cyberpunk TCG, stating, “The reception has been nothing short of incredible so far, so we want to deliver something even more exciting with Set 2. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners gives us numerous opportunities to evolve this game in meaningful ways, both mechanically and artistically, and we can’t wait to share that with players.”
In anticipation of the set’s official launch, pre-release tournaments will take place a week prior, allowing players to compete and open packs featuring the Edgerunners cards.
Art for one of the Burn Bright cards has been revealed, showcasing Edgerunners protagonists David and Lucy alongside David’s mother, Gloria Martinez. This card is titled Gloria Martinez: The Future’s Price.
The Cyberpunk Trading Card Game was successfully funded through Kickstarter, raising over $28 million by the end of its campaign in April. The first set, Welcome to Night City, is set to launch in stores on November 6 and features several characters from Cyberpunk 2077.
