New extraction shooter offers players cash rewards, raising eyebrows in the gaming community.

Bravo Ready, an indie game studio based in Montreal, has launched BR1: Infinite, an extraction shooter that offers players the chance to earn real-world money based on their gaming performance.

Currently in closed beta, BR1: Infinite is accessible only to those who sign up for an invitation code to participate in testing. The game features a unique twist that has intrigued many players: you can earn cash by achieving eliminations and successfully extracting. However, there’s a catch—players must pay a spawn fee, putting their own money on the line each time they enter a match.

To hone their skills, players can practice on free servers, but to earn real money, they need to join risk servers, which charge fees ranging from $0.25 to $5. This fee determines the cost to spawn in that server. To make money in BR1: Infinite, players must secure kills or complete an extraction without dying. If they fall in battle, they’ll need to pay the spawn fee again to re-enter.

BR1: Infinite undeniably incorporates a gambling element. Bravo Ready identifies itself as a “private studio that develops and invests in gaming, gambling, and consumer tech.” Players must tread carefully, as opting for higher spawn fee servers can lead to significant losses. Those who join the closed beta will receive a $5 bonus, which they can use in-game, but withdrawals are only permitted once their balance exceeds $25.

Concerns about cheating are also prevalent among players. With real money at stake, preventing cheating is crucial. Major titles like Fortnite and Call of Duty face challenges in this area, raising questions about how a smaller indie studio will manage the issue.

Despite the gambling and cheating worries, interest in BR1: Infinite remains high. The game’s Discord server boasts nearly 40,000 members, and many players on social media are eager to receive an invite to the closed beta.
