New Halo Remake Trailer Features PS5 Pro Footage, Leaving Xbox Fans Puzzled

The official Halo YouTube channel recently dropped a new story trailer for the upcoming remake, Halo: Campaign Evolved. While that alone might not raise eyebrows, the fact that all the footage was captured on a PS5 Pro—despite Halo being an Xbox franchise—has sparked a mix of amusement, confusion, and frustration among gamers online.

On June 8, various Halo social media accounts shared a three-minute “Cinematic Story Trailer” showcasing revamped moments from the original game, now looking sharper than ever. The trailer is visually impressive, and even if I have mixed feelings about remaking Halo: Combat Evolved yet again, I’m intrigued to see how this fresh take on the classic will play out. However, the standout point for many viewers was the note at the bottom of the video indicating that the footage was captured on a PS5 Pro.

A mysterious ring. A lone Spartan.

This is Halo completely rebuilt.

This is Halo: Campaign Evolved.

Accounts like Wario64, Charlie Intel, and Paul Tassi highlighted the “Captured On PS5 Pro” message, leading to a flurry of reactions. Many questioned why Xbox didn’t opt for a PC to capture the footage. While the PS5 Pro boasts more power than the Xbox Series X, it seems odd to draw attention to that fact.

One theory circulating is that the trailer was initially intended for a Sony event. A reporter speculated that the PS5 Pro note and the use of footage from Sony’s console might indicate that the trailer was meant to debut at the recent PlayStation State of Play before being pulled. A reliable leaker supported this theory, suggesting that it was indeed the plan. While this might seem like a last-minute switch, it’s worth noting that reports indicate Xbox leadership recently decided to keep some games as console exclusives, leading to Gears of War: E-Day skipping the PS5.

Online reactions ranged from jokes to fanboy outrage to sheer confusion.

Halo Captured on PS5 Pro!?

Lol but in all seriousness, not the biggest deal but come on!

They should give the PS5 its own skin.
