New Joy-Con Colors for Switch 2 Now Available: Here’s Where to Buy

Nintendo has unveiled the first-ever color refresh for the Switch 2 Joy-Con controllers, now available for pre-order. Departing from the classic all-black design with the iconic red and blue accents, the new Joy-Cons will come in sleek black paired with vibrant Light Purple and Light Green options, set to hit the US market on February 12, 2026. This announcement was initially made on the official Nintendo Today App and later shared through their social media channels. These Joy-Con 2 controllers are identical to the ones included with the console, featuring only the fresh color schemes and matching straps.

The design remains true to the Switch 2 aesthetic, with the controllers primarily black, accented by hints of purple and green around the analog sticks and the edges where the SL and SR shoulder buttons are located. It’s always great to see more color options, especially since these are the first new Joy-Cons released in the seven months since the Switch 2’s launch.

If the colors seem reminiscent, it’s because Nintendo previously offered Pastel Purple and Pastel Green Joy-Cons for the original Switch back in 2023. While the shades aren’t an exact match, it’s nice to see this color combination return for the Switch 2, even if they won’t be as visible during handheld play.

Using these new controllers with your Switch 2 means those eye-catching edges will be hidden, which is a bit disappointing. It would be fantastic if Nintendo could eventually honor the original Switch with fully re-colored Joy-Cons or even ones featuring designs inspired by beloved franchises like Splatoon and The Legend of Zelda. Personally, I would jump at the chance to grab a variant of the Skyward Sword HD Joy-Cons for the Switch 2.

In the meantime, if you’re on the lookout for a Valentine’s Day gift for a fellow Switch enthusiast, the new Light Purple and Light Green Joy-Cons would make a perfect choice—assuming you’re in the US, as there’s currently no listing for these in the Nintendo UK online store.

Launching just two days before Valentine’s Day, having an extra set of controllers means you can enjoy co-op games like Super Mario Party Jamboree together. Just remember to play nice and avoid stealing stars to keep the romance alive this February 14!
