Masato Kato, the writer behind Chrono Trigger and director of Chrono Cross, is back with a new turn-based adventure that features a sword-wielding frog in your party.

Another Eden Begins was unveiled at the recent Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase as the latest project from Kato and composer Yasunori Mitsuda, set to launch on PC, Switch, and Switch 2 this summer.

If the title rings a bell, it’s because Another Eden has been around for years as a free-to-play time-traveling RPG with a similar aesthetic. This new installment appears to expand on the “timespace-bending multiverse” concept, introducing 18 companions, full English voice acting, enhanced combat, and more.

According to developer Wright Flyer Studios, the game features a branching narrative where New Game+ introduces a new character into the main storyline, unlocking multiple narrative paths that lead to ten different endings.

I’m all in for another time-traveling adventure from Masato Kato, especially one that pits you against a nearly extinct dinosaur boss one moment and has you racing through a sci-fi utopia the next. And the cool frog companion is just the cherry on top.

The story kicks off with Aldo and his sister, Feinne, living a tranquil life in the village of Baruoki until the Beast King kidnaps Feinne. Aldo chases them into the Moonlight Forest, but after a fierce battle with a beast, he’s thrust through a spacetime rift and lands in a world 800 years ahead, as detailed on its Steam page.
