New Trailer Drops for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey has finally dropped its first full trailer ahead of its summer release, and it’s everything fans have been eagerly anticipating. Until now, our only glimpse of Nolan’s latest cinematic venture was Matt Damon sporting some impressive headgear and a toga. Now, we get a deeper look at this star-studded epic, and our excitement has only intensified.

After some initial official images, the film’s prologue was showcased in IMAX during screenings of Sinners and One Battle After Another in early December. It’s currently being shown before Avatar: Fire and Ash, starting with the intriguing question, “You hear the story of the horse?” This leads to a dramatic scene of the massive wooden horse being pulled toward the gates of Troy, followed by the unveiling of the ruse and the ensuing battle.

The full trailer, which you can check out above, features some of those earlier images while providing a broader view of this highly anticipated film.

Following his Oscar-winning success with Oppenheimer, the acclaimed director, known for his stunning IMAX sequences, has adapted one of humanity’s oldest tales. The story follows King Odysseus on his arduous journey home after the decade-long Trojan War. Not one to take it easy, Odysseus’ trek from Troy to Ithaca stretches another ten years, filled with trials from gods, mythical creatures, and various challenges. Meanwhile, his son Telemachus (rumored to be played by Tom Holland) is battling suitors eager to marry Odysseus’ wife, Penelope, before his return. In a Nolan film, the pressure of time is always a key element.

Nolan has shared that he shot over two million feet of film—nearly 400 miles—during production, including extensive filming on the open ocean, which saw him spend “four months” at sea in a “pretty primal” experience.

This ambitious project features a stellar cast, including Matt Damon and Tom Holland, alongside Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Elliot Page, Mia Goth, Benny Safdie, Ryan Hurst, and John Leguizamo, all bringing this ancient narrative to life.

Prepare for a visual spectacle, as this will be the first film shot entirely in IMAX. Get ready to embark on an epic journey when The Odyssey hits theaters on July 17, 2026.
