New Trailer Unveils the Return of Stranger Things on Netflix
The second season of *Stranger Things: Tales from ’85* is just around the corner. On Tuesday morning, the first trailer for season 2 was released, hinting at a storyline centered around a mysterious plant that triggers paranormal events.
“With Valentine’s Day approaching, the gang must uncover the truth behind ghostly apparitions and a swarm of bizarre creatures wreaking havoc in town,” the trailer’s description notes.
For those who haven’t caught up with *Tales from ’85*, it’s an animated spin-off of *Stranger Things* set between the second and third seasons of the main series. It follows the beloved characters as they encounter new otherworldly beings from the Upside Down. The animation is handled by Flying Bark Productions, a studio known for its work on projects like *Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender*. The series was developed by Eric Robles and Jennifer Muro, with the Duffer Brothers serving as executive producers.
One of the most surprising aspects of *Tales from ’85* is how quickly it has come together. The first season premiered just a few months ago, on April 23, and the second season is set to debut on September 18, 2026. Season 1 received mixed reviews; while some praised its ability to capture the charm of early *Stranger Things*, others felt it lacked depth. The show currently holds a 63% critics’ score and a 52% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
*Tales from ’85* is the first spin-off following the conclusion of the main series in 2025. Given that *Stranger Things* is one of Netflix’s most popular shows ever — with the third season breaking records for viewership — it’s no surprise that more content is on the way. A live-action spin-off was reportedly in development as of 2023, though no formal announcements have been made. Since the end of *Stranger Things*, the Duffer Brothers have also executive produced two Netflix horror series, *Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen* and *The Boroughs*, both of which received positive feedback.
The animated spin-off returns next month.
