New Wolfenstein 3 Game Confirmed in Development, Reports Indicate
MachineGames is developing a third installment in the Wolfenstein series, following the releases of 2014’s Wolfenstein: The New Order and 2017’s Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. Reports indicate that the game is in the works, although specific details remain under wraps. This upcoming title will mark the first new entry in the franchise since 2019’s Wolfenstein: Youngblood and the VR experience Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot.
In September 2025, creative director Axel Torvenius expressed a desire to continue the journey of William “B.J.” Blazkowicz in this new chapter. He mentioned in a documentary that the team has always envisioned this as a trilogy, with plans for B.J.’s story mapped out from the early days of development. “What will happen in the second one, what will happen in the third one,” he noted, emphasizing that there’s still more to explore in the Wolfenstein universe.
If the third game is indeed in development, it might be revealed during the upcoming Xbox Developer Direct or the anticipated Xbox summer showcase, though this is purely speculative. Additionally, a live-action Wolfenstein TV series is in the works at Prime Video, but details about the show are still scarce. The Wolfenstein series is set in an alternate history where Germany emerged victorious in World War II thanks to advanced technology. Since its inception in 1981, the franchise has played a significant role in shaping the first-person shooter genre, with 1992’s Wolfenstein 3D being a landmark title that helped popularize the format in the ’90s.
