Nine Games Departing from PlayStation Plus This August

There are just a few weeks left to dive into some fantastic titles in the PlayStation Plus library. As July wraps up, it’s been confirmed which games will be exiting the Extra and Premium tiers next month. Nine games are on the chopping block, and several of them are definitely worth your time before they disappear.

Leading the pack is Unicorn Overlord. Released by Atlus and developed by Vanillaware in 2024, this tactical RPG received rave reviews. It’s a must-play for fans of Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy: Tactics, thanks to its intricate systems and innovative combat. While the story may not be groundbreaking, the engaging gameplay more than makes up for it. Unicorn Overlord also became Vanillaware’s fastest-selling title, proving its commercial success.

Another gem to experience before it leaves PlayStation Plus is Harold Halibut. This 2024 adventure game garnered attention for its stunning hand-crafted stop-motion visuals, a result of a decade-long development process. The game’s quirky world and emotionally resonant story make it a truly unique experience that shouldn’t be missed.

Dead Island 2 is also set to exit PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium. While this zombie-slaying action RPG felt a bit dated upon its 2023 release, there’s an undeniable thrill in taking down hordes of the undead. If you haven’t tried it yet, spend some time in Dead Island 2’s world for a dose of straightforward fun.

As per the usual update schedule, these titles will be removed on the third Tuesday of the month, giving you until August 18 to check them out. You can find them in the “Last chance to play” section at the bottom of the collections tab in the PlayStation Plus menu.
